DB Regio has ordered 36 new diesel-multiple units (DMUs) from PESA in the first tranche of a €1.2 billion framework contract with the Polish rolling stock manufacturer.

The new fleet, which will be made up of 20 two-car and 16 three-car LINT model regional trains, will operate on Germany’s Sauerland network and will range in capacity from 100 to 160 seats.

In 2012, DB signed a framework contract with PESA for a potential 450 new DMUs and this first order, which was finalised in Berlin last week, is worth €120 million to the train builder.
