Alstom to renovate Milan suburban tramway

Alstom has won a €40 million contract to modernise a tram route linking Milan, Desio and Seregno.

The contract, which was awarded by Italian contractor Cooperativa Muratori e Cementisti (CMC), includes the all the track work, electrical traction sub-stations and the installation of S&T systems.

Alstom will also supply its Hesop regenerative braking technology on the 14.3-kilometre system.

The project, which will be delivered from Alstom’s site in Guidonia, is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
