A Bombardier/EDI joint venture has renegotiated its maintenance contract with Transperth to cover 22 extra B-series electric multiple units.

The five-and-a-half-year agreement is a variation on the joint venture’s current contract to maintain the B-series trains it has manufactured for Transperth since 2004.

Worth €28 million, the contract covers an additional 22 vehicles, which are due to be delivered by EDI Rail Bombardier Transportation in 2016.

Garry Bulgarelli, head of services execution Asia Pacific, Bombardier Transportation, said: “Bombardier is proud of its long standing relationship with the Perth suburban rail network.

“Transperth has a clear and continued focus on performance and we commend them on their recent Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers Award – City Trains, 2014.”
