Strukton Rail has announced the closure of its track construction and renewal business in Germany.

The Dutch company said it had decided to end its small-scale track construction and renewal activities in Germany after concluding that there were “insufficient prospects” in the country.

With an annual turnover of €12.5 million, Strukton’s German track business, which employs around 70 members of staff, has been operating since 2007 after the company acquired Georg Reisse GmbH.

In a short statement, Strukton said it would continue to be active in the German rail market in the areas of asset management, and through its specialist traction systems, highly mechanical track construction and energy solutions.
