Houston’s light rail operator METRORail has launched the first six of a fleet of new CAF trams to boost services in the city.

An event was held at Houston’s Downtown Transit Center (DTC) on January 7 to mark the H3’s entry into revenue service.

METRORail has ordered 39 H3 trams from CAF, which will be delivered over the next few months ahead of the opening of the Green and Purple lines.

The new Spanish-built vehicles will operate alongside Houston’s existing Siemens S70 trams, eventually giving METRORail a fleet of 76 units.
