RATP and STIF have commissioned Alstom to supply up to 217 new rubber-tired MP14 trains for the Paris Metro network.

With a total value of more than €2 billion, the eight-car vehicles will be deployed on lines 1, 4, 6, 11 and 14, as well as the new Grand Paris orbital network for which preparatory works are set to begin this year.

An initial firm order of around €500 million has already been placed for 35 trains for line 14.

The further units will be delivered over the course of a 15-year period. Alstom said in a statement that a second order for up to 37 trains would soon follow.
