Bombardier, with the Stockholm Traffic Administration (SL), has unveiled the design of its new C30 Movia metro.

Set to be deployed on Stockholm’s Red Line, the new train was presented in Istanbul on March 5 at EurasiaRail 2015.

The Red Line upgrade involves the installation of communications-based train control (CBTC) signalling across the route. As a result, the project requires the acquisition of new rolling stock and an upgrade of the existing fleet.

In 2013, SL placed a €590 million order for 96 vehicles, with an option for a further 80.

Bombardier said: “Its design language is based upon the “Open City” vision and its derived concept “New Minimalism” expresses pride, strength and motion.”

The C30 features additional bi-parting doors and more priority seating than its predecessor, the C20.
