Chiltern Railways appoints new MD

Adrian Shooter CBE, Chairman of Chiltern Railways has today announced the appointment of Rob Brighouse as its new Managing Director.

Rob comes from London Overground Rail Operations Ltd where he is currently the Deputy Managing Director, a role he started having led a successful joint bid for the concession by DB and MTR.

Rob will be returning to Chiltern Railways having first joined 10 years ago as Projects Director. During his time with the company he successfully led the major infrastructure projects Evergreen 1 and 2 to improve routes and services and also the building of Chiltern’s Wembley depot, all of which were delivered successfully.

His appointment comes as Chiltern Railways get closer to the delivery of the £250m Evergreen 3 project to create the Chiltern Mainline. Rob will be ensuring that the organisation delivers the best possible service for passengers following the launch in May which will see journey times reduced by 20%.

Adrian Shooter CBE, who is Chairman and acting Managing Director of Chiltern Railways will remain as Chairman of the company. On the appointment of the new MD he said: “Rob brings with him an excellent track record of success. His leadership capabilities, enthusiasm and expertise will provide Chiltern Railways with the strength needed as we enter a crucial year.”

Rob Brighouse said: “I am extremely excited to take on this role as Managing Director of Chiltern Railways and be part of the great change that Chiltern Mainline will bring to our customers and staff.”

Rob is expected to start in his new post once he has concluded a series of important projects at London Overground on behalf of Transport for London (TfL).
