East Coast urges travellers to book early for the Royal Wedding

Train operator East Coast is urging travellers to book early to benefit from the lowest fares available to join crowds of well-wishers at the wedding of the year – the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The couple will marry in the historic splendour of Westminster Abbey on Friday 29th April, and the big day has been declared a bank holiday – giving many people the opportunity to soak up the carnival atmosphere on the streets of London.

East Coast is expecting strong demand for its cheapest advance tickets, which went on sale on Thursday 3rd February 2011 at: www.eastcoast.co.uk.

East Coast Commercial Director Peter Williams said: “The Royal Wedding promises to be an unforgettable day out in London, not only for the ceremony itself but also the carriage procession afterwards, passing famous landmark sights including Parliament Square, Whitehall and Horse Guards Parade before travelling up The Mall to Buckingham Palace.

“The celebrations will of course be shown worldwide on television, but there’s no substitute for being there.

“Getting a hotel room in central London will inevitably be more difficult and more expensive than normal. The BBC has already reported that some hotels in the city are planning to increase prices by as much as 200 per cent.

“East Coast’s trains can take you to and from London, with the opportunity on the day to upgrade to the comfort and style of First Class for as little as £20 per single journey from York or Leeds, or £25 from the North East or Scotland. The train is the sensible way to make the most of this great day out for the whole family”.
