East Midlands Trains has announced that it will be trialling a new late evening service for Leicester City fans to return home after night matches at the Walkers Stadium.

The new service, which will depart from Leicester at 22.22, will be trialled after the Norwich City game on Tuesday 8 March and again after the Foxes meet Crystal Palace on Tuesday 12 April. The special service will call at Syston (22.28), Sileby (22.33) and Barrow on Soar (22.38) before arriving at Loughborough at 22.43.

Jayne Moyses from East Midlands Trains, said: “We know that travelling by train to matches provides an easy and hassle-free way for supporters to follow their club. We want to encourage more supporters to travel by train wherever possible and are pleased to be working with Leicester City Football Club to trial the new evening service after the home games on 8 March and 12 April.

“This will provide a new opportunity for Foxes fans living outside the City to travel back home by train after an evening game. We’ve been working closely with Leicester City to promote the service and hope that we have enough fans travelling to ensure the trial is a success.”

If the trial proves successful, the new service will be rolled out to run whenever Leicester City has a home evening game throughout the 2011/12 season.

Jamie Tabor, Media and Marketing Manager from Leicester City Football Club added: “It is great that East Midlands Trains has decided to run this trial service, which I am sure will be well received by our supporters. The support that we have received this season has been nothing short of fantastic. I hope that this new service, albeit on a trial basis, will encourage more supporters to attend mid-week games.”
