London Midland has promised to actively seek discussions with Passenger Focus, following the independent passenger watchdog’s release of the responses to its public consultation on the rail company’s proposals on new opening hours for 87 of its ticket offices.

Alex Hynes, Commercial Director for London Midland said:

“We are aware of the healthy response to the consultation and clearly recognise the concerns that both passengers and stakeholders have raised.

“We’ve already started work on dealing with many of the issues raised during the consultation and as part of the important next steps we want to make sure that we continue to have a constructive dialogue with all of our key stakeholders. We are keen that our future discussions prove positive in overcoming the initial objections to our proposals.”

To support the proposed changes to ticket office opening hours the company has already committed itself to significant further investment in its stations, with plans to install 29 new Ticket Vending Machines, upgrade help points and deliver other security measures, where necessary.

The final decision on the proposals will be taken by the Department for Transport following the outcome of discussions with key stakeholders.
