Train operator East Coast has awarded outdoor media owner JCDecaux a ‘multi million pound’ outdoor advertising contract.

The contract includes adverts for train stations such as York and Newcastle and was awarded after a ‘competitive tender.’

12 stations are included in the advertising contract altogether, and it is reported that the advertising company hope to install digital technology such as Transvision  at some of East Coast’s key stations.

Tim Hedley-Jones, property and projects director, at East Coast, said:

“With JCDecaux as our partners, we are confident that our advertising estate will enhance the passenger experience on this major intercity route.”

Jeremy Male, chief executive officer of JCDecaux, UK and Northern Europe said the contract was ‘key’ to enable their clients to reach audiences travelling on the line and will ‘strengthen their rail coverage.’
