ScotRail is providing more than 100 extra cycle spaces at stations across the central belt this Spring.

The new spaces, which underpin a commitment to integrated travel, include:

  • A new rack with shelter outside Edinburgh’s Haymarket Station for 24 cycles.
  • A second rack with shelter at Glasgow Queen Street Station, and:
  • An increase from 10 to 20 spaces at Drem in East Lothian.

North Berwick will receive a rack to accommodate a further 6 cycles; a new sheltered rack at Prestonpans will replace the uncovered rack in the car park nearest the Edinburgh-bound platform, and the replacement of old cycle-racks at Linlithgow will provide an additional 5 spaces.

In Strathclyde, cycle lockers will be replaced by easier-to-use racks at 30 stations.

They are:

Ayr, Balloch, Bearsden, Bishopton, Carluke, Clarkston, Coatbridge Sunnyside, Croy, Cumbernauld, Dalmuir, Dumbarton Central, Easterhouse, Gartcosh, Helensburgh Central, Irvine, Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Kilwinning, Lanark, Lenzie, Milngavie, Motherwell, Neilston, Paisley Gilmour Street, Prestwick Town, Stepps, Troon, Uddingston, Wemyss Bay and Whitecraigs.

Des Bradley, ScotRail Transport Integration Manager, said:

“The extra provision of secure storage will make it even easier for customers to cycle to or from their stations.”
