Crich Tramway Village is winding back the clock to the early 1900s during its Edwardian Weekend on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July, a time when the suffragette movement was in full swing, First World War soldiers patrolled the streets and horse drawn trams were a regular spectacle.

Visitors will be able to mingle with a whole host of characters in period dress, including the suffragettes who will be campaigning for equal rights, the stable hands who will protest over the loss of their jobs due to the development of the tramway from horse to electricity, and First World War soldiers who will be off to fight in The Great War.

There will also be an authentic Edwardian wedding and display of fashions from the era. And, of course, no Edwardian event would be complete without a performance of the Music Hall. There will be free seats for everyone.

Andrew Willis, Event Organiser said: “There is a charm and elegance to the Edwardian era which will be recaptured for visitors by the re-enactors attending the event. Plus this is the only opportunity this year to ride in a traditional horse drawn tram.”

Another highlight of the event will be a Major Titanic Exhibition containing genuine artefacts from RMS Titanic and Olympic, models and other important relics.

Anyone attending the event with an Edwardian vehicle or dressed in period costume who registers in advance can get free admission. Visit the website to find out more.
