Bombardier Transportation took home coveted Intermedia-Globe awards in two categories at the eleventh annual World Media Festival awards ceremony for excellence in corporate film, television, web and print production.

The ceremony took place in Hamburg, Germany, on May 18,2011.

Bombardier Transportation in partnership with Ludwigsburg-based corporate audio/visual communications agency avcommunication GmbH competed against more than 550 entries from 34 countries.

The promotional films emphasise the need to connect transportation choices with their impact on the environment and highlight Bombardier Transportation’s innovative rail technology solutions in helping to create higher performing, more sustainable mobility.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised by these awards from the World Media Festival,” said Sharon Christians, Vice President Communications and Public Affairs, Bombardier Transportation.

“At a time when countries around the world are challenged by rising energy costs, growing populations, increasing congestion and the need to reduce pollution, Bombardier Transportation provides some very attractive answers.

“We’re delighted that these videos were judged to convey this message in a memorable, appealing and exciting way.”

The WorldMediaFestival celebrates excellent solutions in corporate film, television, web and print productions on an international scale. The Intermedia-Globe Silver and Gold awards recognise successful achievement and true excellence in modern media communication respectively.

More than 550 entries from 34 countries were submitted to this year’s festival, including companies like EDF, Mazda, Porsche, Daimler, BMW, Volvo, Ricola, MAN, DHL, Finnair, BASF, Bayer, IBM, Woolworths-BWS and several non-governmental organisations and broadcasting companies.

To date, the communications team at Bombardier Transportation and their creative partners have won over 10 awards for their work.

  1. Doesn’t do much for this website’s reputation as a provider of rail news if you are going to report stuff like this. The so called “World Media Festival” is essentially a German award, with a few prizes going to non-german firms. A similar ‘international’ award is the ‘Red Dot Design’ award which is consistently won by German companies.

For those not already familiar with the organisation of Bombardier Transportation, it’s essentially the successor to Adtranz with the addition of acquisitions from Swiss ABB and other firms in countries that neighbour Germany (Belgium, Holland). The North American arm is small. The company’s headquarters are in Berlin.

Personally I enjoy corporate videos, but I have to say the two winners were fairly average and uninspired – which all the usual cliches eg pictures of Polar Bears and Climate change..

I really feel this was not worthy of a news report.
