Stockport-based integrated safety, control and automation systems specialist Hima-Sella will be demonstrating some key applications at this year’s Railtex.

Integrated communications management

The success of a modern railway network is the ability to deliver a fast, efficient and affordable service, with rail operators driving a strategy to provide simple and cost effective solutions covering both the operation of the railway and the ongoing availability of assets.

Drawing on its 35 years experience as an independent system integrator delivering safety critical control applications, Hima-Sella has developed its iCMS solution for the control of all operational and retail telecommunication assets, capable of offering a common point of control via a fully integrated human-computer interface.

This approach replaces the traditional multi console operations position with one that is simple, efficient and cost effective.

iCMS has been developed with the use of industry-proven software and hardware technologies. It uses a commercial off-the-shelf software toolset, developed in a variety of industrial SCADA applications.

Already in operation in the UK rail sector, the product has been used to integrate retail telecommunications assets such as CCTV and PAVA, as well as the management of SCADA information.

Electrification control

SCADA systems provide a centralised system for monitoring and controlling complex distributed control systems over a large geographical area.

Control actions are performed by terminal units at remote sites, providing measurement and control of equipment operation to and from the centralised SCADA system.

Hima-Sella’s standardised suite of proven technology delivers –

  • Integration with recognised industry protocols transporting all I/O-related data including status and control
  • Fully redundant server pairs and high availability of solution/remote workstations
  • Modularity and scalability
  • Greater efficiency and mean time to repair, including remotely situated maintainer/engineering workstations
  • Lower purchasing costs
  • Control over configuration, allowing the end user to control I/O completely across all areas and have one database to maintain.
