This week Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage, visited Stevenage Station for a tour of First Capital Connect’s station operations.
As part of his tour Stephen spoke to gate-line and platform staff and learnt more about the day to day tasks of a train dispatcher.
He was also shown the new station wormery, which works by leaving food waste in the containers for worms to eat and turns it into a bio-rich, high quality compost and concentrated liquid feed.
Stevenage Station Manager, Sandi Sidhu, was also on hand to discuss any questions or concerns Stephen had on behalf of his constituents. They discussed a range of issues, including anti-social behaviour and car park operations.
After the tour Stephen McPartland said:
“I would like to thank FCC and their staff at Stevenage Station for their time and showing me the ropes of running a rail station.
“The staff work hard to keep their station presentable and I have been impressed with the level of service they provide to their customers.”
Sandi Sidhu, Stevenage Station Manager, commented:
“Stephen McPartland is a regular commuter on our services and I am pleased that he was able to come and see what it takes to run a station as large as Stevenage.
“We look forward to working with him in the future”
