Works to reopen a disused platform at Bushey station to allow London Midland to provide more weekday evening and weekend services started today.

Weekend improvement work has meant that platforms were not available for later evening London Midland services to call at Bushey on weeknights and Saturday nights. Sunday morning services were also affected.

Simon Whitehorn, area general manager, said:

“This is excellent news for passengers who use Bushey station. Our aim is to create extra capacity and provide reliable services for passengers.

“This is a great example of Network Rail working with our partners to give passengers what they want and need.”

London Midland head of franchise management, Nicola Moss, said:

“We’re delighted to be able to respond to local demand and work with Network Rail to ensure we can reintroduce later evening stops at Bushey.”

Network Rail said they will be writing to its line side neighbours to inform them of the programme of works.
