Strathclyde Partnership for Transport’s Kids Go Free summer Subway promotion has proved a big success with families and ticket sales are up by £68,000.

During the eight-week offer period, 25 June – 21 August, there were an additional 57,000 adult trips on the Subway compared to the same period last year, an increase of 6%.

SPT chair Jonathan Findlay said: “It is great to hear that the Subway’s Kids Go Free offer was used by so many families this summer.

“This is the first time we have offered this fantastic promotion during the summer school break and the response has been excellent.

“The Subway is a convenient and quick way to get in and around Glasgow and to get to all the great attractions the city has to offer. We’re delighted that so many families, especially children, love using it.”

On average, 4,000 adults and families took advantage of the Kids Go Free offer during each week of the promotion.

SPT is now considering whether to run the Kids Go Free offer again over the Christmas school holidays.
