Quattro Group becomes Santa’s Grotto for charity

The South Pole has come to East London, with the Quattro Group turning into an extension of Santa’s Grotto.

Christmas has taken over at the Stratford-based head office, with the arrival of local charity Community Link, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people, adults and families in the surrounding area.

The Community Link’s Christmas Appeal aims to provide a bag of gifts to open on Christmas morning for children who are referred by a unique combination of East London’s caring agencies and family support groups, ensuring that the Appeal helps those most in need at Christmas.

Over 3,000 children from deprived homes where they may have experienced a multitude of difficulties including family breakdown, violence and abuse benefit from the scheme.

However, 3,000 children represent a lot of toys, so safe and secure storage is one of the biggest challenges faced by the charity – and this where the Quattro Group has stepped in.

The top floor of the head office has been transformed into an extension of Hamleys, with toys of every shape and size being stored and sorted though by volunteers.

In 2010, over 14,000 gifts passed through the Quattro Group’s gates, and this year Community Link are aiming bigger – with a target of 15,000 toys by the 23rd of December.

John Murphy, Managing Director of the Quattro Group said:

“The team at Community Link do a brilliant job all year round, but especially at Christmas and we are delighted to be able to do anything we can to help.”
