National Express train operator c2c has signed and started a new and innovative alliance with Network Rail.

Building on c2c’s ‘industry leading performance in train punctuality and customer satisfaction’, the alliance will deliver new cost savings and put further improved passenger benefits at the forefront of joint decision-making.

c2c and Network Rail already have in place a long-established partnership through their joint signalling and operating control office based at Upminster which ‘has helped deliver industry leading punctuality and performance’.

This new alliance will build on this progress with a joint rail board identifying where other opportunities exist to deliver greater efficiency and improved passenger outcomes.

This includes the opportunity to make savings through more integrated working, how stations can be better managed and how engineering work can be better planned and further improvements to train punctuality delivered.

Dean Finch, Chief Executive Officer, National Express Group said:

“In developing this alliance with Network Rail, through our industry-leading train operator c2c, National Express is demonstrating its commitment to be at the forefront of industry efforts to deliver cost savings.

“The new alliance will also help us to build upon our industry leading performance and deliver further service improvements for our passengers in East London and South Essex.”
