Delhi Metro to modify passenger information displays

Listen to this article

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has revealed plans to modify its S&T software system to provide passengers with more information.

The operator wants to be able to show passengers how many carriages an approaching train has.

It is expected to take up to three months for the modification to be completed by Alstom and Siemens.

The passenger announcement system and passenger information display systems installed at stations will be able to inform passengers in advance of a train approaching.

Currently, manual announcements at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro stations are done by security guards with ‘loud hailers’ on platforms.

The alterations will mean passengers can place themselves on the platform accordingly, the DMRC said.
