Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, visited Manchester Victoria on Friday morning as part of their highly anticipated Diamond Jubilee tour.

Arriving from Hooton, near Chester into Manchester Victoria at 10.30am on the specially commissioned Diamond Jubilee train, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were greeted on Platform 3 by local dignitaries and Stephen Green, Northern Rail’s Station Manager.

Music from the Chetham School of Music accompanied the Royal Party as they made their way through the station and onto their next engagement at St Mary’s Hospital.

Stephen Green, Station Manager for Northern Rail comments:

“It was an amazing experience to welcome Her Majesty and His Royal Highness to our station and to Manchester. It’s an exciting time for transport in the North West and we were delighted to have her at Victoria and be the first to host the Diamond Jubilee train.”

Friday also marked the unveiling of the Diamond Jubilee locomotive, which was specially commissioned by DB Schenker Rail UK.
