Russian metro stations finally open

Listen to this article

St Petersburg Metro has opened two new stations as part of the system’s extension plans almost 30 years after building work first started.

Bukharestskaya (Bucharest) and Mezhdunarodnaya (International) stations were unveiled before the new year on the city’s Line 5.

Construction began on the stations in 1986 but was put on hold because of a lack of funding.
