The Brazilian National Transportation Agency (ANTT) has invited bids to carry out initial feasibility studies for a new regional rail link between Brasília and Goiânia.

ANTT has said six consortia, led by Brazilian, Spanish, French and Portuguese firms, have until the beginning of March to submit proposals to conduct technical, economic and environmental studies for the new link.

The medium-speed regional train, which is estimated to cost BRL 800 million, will connect the Brazilian capital of Brasília with Anápolis and Goiânia.

At the end of last year, ANTT had received expressions of interest from 41 companies.

The feasibility studies will be funded by a BRL 5.5 million agreement between ANTT and the World Bank.
