Services have begun on a new driverless light rail system linking the Seoul Metropolitan Subway with YongIn and the Everland theme park.

The YongIn EverLine LRT System, which runs predominantly on elevated lines, connects the South Korean capital with the Everland Resort – one of the largest amusement parks in the Asia Pacific region.

Bombardier Transportation is a member of the YongIn Rapid Transit Co. Ltd that won the concession contract in July 2004.

The contract included five years of design/build and up to 30 years of operations and maintenance services.

Serge Bisson, president of Bombardier Transportation Korea, said: “We congratulate our customer, the City of YongIn, on today’s opening of the impressive EverLine rapid transit system.

“Bombardier has worked tirelessly to realize YongIn City’s vision of a world-class, environmentally sustainable, energy efficient rapid transit system that complements this beautiful historical city in its pristine natural environment.”
