Just wondering: you say the site is now hosted in “the Cloud” – where was it hosted before? Does this just mean it is now distributed across multiple servers rather than only one in the past?
Yes, that’s right. We found that during busy periods and popular news items our previous UK based dedicated server couldn’t cope as well as it should with the demand placed on it, so with Cloud hosting and Load Balancers we can handle the spikes in traffic. As Global Rail News is replicated across several servers around the world on a Content Delivery Network (CDN) readers pick up their most local version, therefore speeding up delivery.
