A shortlist of operators has been announced for Dublin’s Luas light rail services.

First Group, Keolis, RATP and Transdev are all in the running for the contract, which would see the operator taking control of Luas services in the city from September 2014.

The winner will be announced at the start of next  year.

As well as the existing network, the new operator will become responsible for trams on the Luas Cross City line.

The new  368 million euro light rail link will connect Dublin’s Green and Red lines, extending the Green Line west to Broombridge Station.

Preparatory work is already underway, but the main construction programme isn’t due to begin until 2015.
