Thales is to install the signalling system for Hong Kong’s Shatin to Central Link (SCL) metro line.

The company has been awarded a contract to fit its CBTC system on the first segment of the new line.

The system has already been installed on Hong Kong’s MOL (Ma On Shan Line) and WRL (West Rail Line) lines, which will also be upgraded as part of the agreement to integrate with the new CBTC technology.

T C Chew, projects director of MTR, said: “Extending and upgrading a heavily-used network without impacting on our customer service is a challenging task. We look forward to having Thales’s team with their professional excellence in meeting our pledge.”
