The first of a fleet of new trams ordered by the Turkish city of Konya has entered revenue service.
A total of 60 28T light rail vehicles are being built for Konya, with the first arriving in the city in October 2013 following a seven-day journey from Å koda’s factory in Pilsen.
Dynamic testing has since been completed and the first vehicle is now in service.
Josef Bernard, chief executive of Å koda Transportation, said the company plans to deliver most of the 60 trams by the end of the year.
Konya’s new fleet of bi-directional trams are capable of carrying 364 passengers and will operate in five-car configurations.
