Germany’s Lower Saxony public transport authority, LNVG, has ordered six new Coradia Lint regional trains to add to its fleet.

The €25 million contract follows an initial order placed in 2011. The latest agreement will also see Alstom modernise 13 existing Coradia Lint trains so they can be operated as multiple units.

All new and upgraded trains will be ready for operation in 2016.

Manufactured by Alstom in Salzgitter, Germany, and Katowice, Poland, the six new Coradia Lint 41 trains have a total capacity of 232 people each, including 114 seats, and are capable of a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

“Through this order, we are continuing our long-standing, successful partnership with LNVG and are helping to further improve the services available for passengers between Wilhelmshaven, Osnabrück and Bremen.

“With these six new vehicles, LNVG will now have ordered 126 Coradia Linttrains from us,” said Martin Lange, managing director of Alstom Transport in Germany.
