Pesa has placed an order for 10 MTU Series 4000 locomotive diesel engines to power a fleet of new Gama 111Db locomotives.

The engines, which are certificated for EU Stage IIIB emissions regulations, will drive 10 new locomotives which are set operate services for Polish operator PKP Intercity from 2015.

The Rolls Royce Power Systems subsidiary has already supplied Type 6H 1800 R85L powerpacks for Pesa’s 12 Link railcars for Regentalbahn AG. From mid-2014, Pesa will also be running trials with Link railcars powered by four prototype rail powerpacks based on MTU’s new Series 1600 engines.
