Israel Railways launches tender for electric locomotives

Listen to this article

Israel Railways (ISR) is seeking bids for the supply of up to 78 electric locomotives as part of the country’s national electrification plans.

ISR is looking to procure 62 25 kV AC – 50 Hz locomotives, with an option for 16 additional units, to operate a combination of passenger and freight services.

The new fleet will need to be compatible with the current single and double-deck cars, and will need to be capable of multiple unit operation.

In passenger service, the locomotives must be able to deliver operating speeds of 160 km/h. For freight operation, a maximum speed of 120 km/h must be achievable.

The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2014. ISR has said the first unit should be delivered within 20 to 24 months of the contract being signed.

  1. Whats up this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs
use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually
code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding
experience so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!
