A consortium led by property investment company Icade is to construct Montpellier’s new TGV station.

The station is one of two new interchanges being built on a new high-speed rail bypass between Nîmes and Montpellier.

The line, which will be completed by the end of 2017, extends the LGV Méditerranée beyond Nîmes, paving the way for further extensions of the corridor to Perpignan and Barcelona.

France’s infrastructure manager Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) is expected to sign the contract with the consortium, which includes Icade, Caisse des Dépôts, DIF, Edifice Capital, Cofely GDF Suez, Marc Mimram and Emmanuel Nebout, Egis and Fondeville, by the end of the year.

The contract will be delivered through a public-private partnership (PPP).

The station is scheduled to open towards the end of 2017.
