Danish State Railways (DSB) has appointed a former Royal Danish Air Force pilot as its new chief executive.

Flemming Jensen, who is a member of the management team at the airline holding company SAS Group, will take over from Jesper Lok who announced his decision to step down from the position last month.

Jensen was a pilot with SAS before working his way up to become the company’s chief operating officer.

In a statement, Jensen recognised the major changes that have occurred at DSB in recent years to improve its financial and operational performance, believing it had ‘created a new and clear strategy for the company’.

Jensen will take up his new role in May 2015 on a base salary of around €604,000.
