Germany’s Federal Transport Minister, Alexander Dobrindt, has broken ground on the Neufahrner Curve.

The 2.3-kilometre double-track railway is part of a wider project, Erding Ring Closure, to connect Freising to Erding via Munich Airport.

The curve will connect the existing Munich-Freising line with the route which connects Munich with the airport’s terminal station.

Set to open in 2018, the link will cost €91 million, of which the federal government is providing half of the funding.
