Hyundai Rotem has announced that it has received a KRW 154.4 billion (€112 million) for 22 new electric multiple units (EMUs) from Korea’s national rail operator, Korail.

Set to arrive in 2016, the new trains will be deployed on the Donghae Nambu Line, which will eventually be extended to Ulsan and Pohang, and a new double-track commuter railway line between Seongnam and Yeoju.

Hyundai Rotem will be responsible for the maintenance of the new vehicles, which will be the first to be built since the introduction of new safety regulations in March this year.
