National Express has been announced as the preferred bidder for all Nuremberg S-Bahn services by the Bavarian passenger transport authority (BEG).

The two 12-year contracts include services on five lines and are worth more than €1.4 billion.

National Express has taken the S-Bahn operating contract away from Deutsche Bahn (DB), adding to the regional routes it won in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2013.

Launching in December 2018, National Express is procuring 38 new five-car trains from Škoda in partnership with the Bavarian passenger transport authority (BEG).
