NS receives final TRAXX locomotive

Dutch Railways (NS) has accepted the last of 19 TRAXX locomotives from manufacturer Bombardier.

Following the withdrawal of the high-speed V250, NS placed an order for 19 locomotives to operate on intercity routes between Breda, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

The last locomotive of this order was welcomed by Maurice Unck, member of the executive committee of NS, during a ceremony at the Dutch railway museum in Utrecht.

The ERTMS-enabled units are able to operate under 1.5 kV, 3kV (Belgium), 25kV (HSL) and 15 kV (Germany), with a speed restriction of up to 160 km/h, overhead line electrification.
