CSR Qingdao Sifang has signed a cooperative agreement with three leading English universities to establish the ‘China-UK Joint Research and Development Center for Rail Transit Technology’.

A signing ceremony was held at Railtex between CSR, the University of Birmingham, University of Southampton and Imperial College on May 12.

CSR, which has manufactured around half of China’s entire high-speed rail fleet,  has already initiated similar research partnerships in Germany and Thailand.

In a statement, CSR said the center would look at developing new technologies, new materials and new production processes.
