Plans are coming together for the Toulouse Aerospace Express, a new metro line which will connect the aerospace, space research and technology centres of France’s fourth-largest city.

The new line, Toulouse’s fourth metro and third subway, will connect Labège Innopole at the eastern end with Matabiau station, the Airbus group headquarters and its factory at Colomiers and will include a link to Toulouse Airport. It will be 20-25km long and should be complete by 2024.

The exact route is not yet finalised and funding of the estimates €1.5 billion cost will be completed by 2017. However, a map of the new route was released by the Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun Tisséo in preparation for a public consultation next year.
