Eurostar shows off updated Class 373 interior

Eurostar has made public the first interior photos of its modernised Class 373 fleet.

The images were released alongside Eurostar’s latest performance figures which showed that passenger numbers over the past three months had broken the operator’s single quarter record.

Around 2.8 million passengers travelled on the high-speed service in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 3 per cent on last year.

Despite an increase in sales revenue in the last quarter, revenue for the year so far was down, having been impacted by the Paris terrorist attacks and a lorry fire in the Channel Tunnel.

As well as the images of its upgraded Class 373s, which are also referred to as e300s, Eurostar announced that its new fleet of e320 trains is undergoing its final phase of testing.

Nicolas Petrovic, chief executive of Eurostar, said: “Over the last three months we have carried more passengers than in any other quarter.  With demand for our services at an all-time high we are looking forward to the arrival of our new trains.

“The combination of state-of-the-art design, unrivalled comfort and 20 per cent extra seats means that we are well placed to meet the growing demand as passengers increasingly opt for high-speed rail over plane.”
