Toshiba has announced plans to build a new factory in Hyderabad, India, specialising in rail systems for stations.

The site, which will open in 2017, will manufacture power conversion and train control systems.

The facility will be built by Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India)  Pvt. Ltd, which is establishing a dedicated railway systems division.

Toshiba said it predicts that the factory will employ more than 100 people by 2020 and will act as the base for the company’s activities in the Middle East and Africa.
