Bombardier has begun production of Vienna’s new low-floor Flexity trams.

Vienna’s city council has released images of the finalised design for the new vehicles, which will replace Wiener Linien’s existing high-floor fleet.

From 2018, the Flexity trams will start to be brought into service. Wiener Linien will order between 119 and 156 trams in total, although an exact number has not yet been confirmed.

Thirty-four metres long, the new trams will have a capacity for 211 passengers and will have “fully digital” driver cabs.
