The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has ordered 45 new S70 trams from Siemens.

MTS will use most of the new light rail vehicles on the Mid-Coast Trolley expansion – an extension of the Blue Line which is currently being built.

Some of the trams will be used to increase service frequency on the Blue and Orange lines.

Siemens is expected to deliver the first unit by the end of 2018. Siemens has been supplying light rail vehicles for San Diego’s MTS network since 1981.
