Amsterdam’s public transport operator GVB and CAF have finalised an order for 63 new five-car Urbos 100 trams.
The contract, which includes options for up to 60 additional trams, was signed in Amsterdam on November 11.
More than €200 million is being invested in the new low-floor vehicles.
A full-scale model of an Urbos 100 tram will be exhibited next year in order to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the design and interior.
The first new tram will be in service by the second half of 2019.
The new fleet of bi-directional 15G Urbos trams will replace older vehicles in the current fleet. Some will be used to operate services on the renewed Amstelveen Line.
