Hitachi Rail Italy has been awarded three contracts worth around €108 million for the maintenance of high-speed and regional train sets for Trenitalia and Trenord.

The first contract is for the maintenance and supply of spare parts for the Frecciarossa 1000 fleet, which the company built in collaboration with Bombardier. The service will be in addition to activities covered under the vehicles’ warranty.

Hitachi Rail Italy will repair damage caused by vandalism and ensure the availability of units for operator Trenitalia.

A second contract, which will be delivered in partnership with Sitav, covers the maintenance and testing of Trenord’s TSR EMUs operating in Lombardy. The contract length is 24 months and is worth around €7.9 million.

The third and final contract, which will run for 12 months, is for preventive and corrective maintenance services for the Frecciarossa 500 fleet.
