Siemens is to upgrade the traction power supply on line 1 of Lima’s metro system.
The work includes modernising the power supply on the original nine-kilometre section of line 1, which was installed in 1995, and electrifying the line’s depot.
Siemens will supply and install four traction power substations and six medium-voltage cabinets between Villa El Salvador and Atocongo.
The contract also includes upgrading the overhead line equipment and installing a SCADA control system.
Line 1 connects the south east of Peru’s capital with the city center. Siemens electrified the first extension and second extensions of the line and last year was awarded the contract to electrify line 2 and the first phase of line 4.
