Bombardier has delivered the first of 44 new driverless automated people mover (APM) vehicles to Shanghai.

Bombardier is supplying the Innovia APM 300 trains for Shanghai Metro’s Line 8 Phase 3 – an elevated dual-track line between Pujiangzhen and Shendu Highway Station.

The rubber-tired vehicles, ordered by Shanghai Shentong Metro Group in June last year, are the first of their kind in China, Bombardier has said.

Bombardier, which is headquartered in Canada, has six joint ventures in China which together have supplied more than 3,500 high-speed train cars, 560 electric locomotives and 2,000 metro cars.
