Hamburg-based rail freight operator HSL Logistik has ordered four Traxx AC3 locomotives from Bombardier Transportation.

HSL Logistik is one of the largest privately owned rail freight operators in Germany, operating around 300 trains a week last year.

HSL Logistik currently has a fleet of 37 locomotives, plus seven shunting locomotives. The new locomotives will allow the company to ramp up services to 380 trains a week in 2017.

Bombardier will deliver the new Traxx locomotives, which are being built in Kassel, sometime around the end 2017 and start of 2018.
